MAG+S PROMESSE CAMBODGE

Metta Karuna is an interfaith reflexion center in Siem Reap in Cambodia. Metta means Loving kindness. Karuna means Compassion, Metta and Karuna are two of the four pillars of Buddhism. Sister Denise comes from Australia but she has been living in Cambodia for 24 years. She fights against landmines, cluster bombs and she also fights for human rights in Cambodia and all over the world. She takes care of the center and is helped by volunteers who are from Cambodia or from foreign countries. Since September 2004 until September 2016, Elisabeth (who is a French volunteers from Inigo program) help her to receive the different styles groups here. We are there to finalize our program during 10 days before going to villages ! The only problem is Kostia's one, he often say us : "Be strong against Club Med psychic complex" because the place is very cosy and very different to the villages that we will visited later.

On 29 July 2015, we visited Sre Ampil, an orphanage, which is managed by Mr. SON Soubert since 1994 in Kandal province. Thanks to the orphanage children can study and later find a job.

Tuol Sleng est un ancien lycée construit par les français situé au cœur de la capitale où enseignait Claire Ly, l'une des survivantes qui nous a apporté son témoignage lors de notre premier week-end de réunion à Marseille, fin janvier. Tuol Sleng fut converti en 1975 en Centre de Détention, connu sous le nom de Prison de Sécurité 21 (S21) par les Forces de Sécurité de Pol Pot. Près de 17 000 prisonniers ont été torturés, interrogés puis exécutés au centre d'extermination de Cheoung Ek par les Khmers Rouges d'avril 1975 à janvier 1979. Lorsque Phnom Penh fut libéré par l'Armée Vietnamienne en 1979, seul sept prisonniers avaient survécu. Aucun n'a pu s'en échapper. En août 1979, les vietnamiens transforment le site en musée. Il est maintenant reconnu comme le plus grand centre de détention et de torture du pays. La prison S21 rappelle les camps de concentration nazis. Tuesday, we followed SIPAR association (mobile library for children), one of our parters, in a village near Phnom Penh. It was very helpful for us before we go in villages at Battambang province. SIPAR goes in this village once a week, for 1h30. It aims to encourage the school learning. We introduced ourself to the children in khmer, so we practiced khmer. We learned during our first lesson which took place on monday. We have very good teachers, they are our khmer co-workers. We were able to tell them : - Hello (Tchoum riep sour) - My name is... (Knom tchmour...) - I'm...years old. (Knom mean ayu...chnam.) - Je viens de France. (Knom mopi Baran.) - I'm french. (Knom chea chuncheat barang.) - I'm studying... in France. (Knom rin...now Baran.) We are in Cambodia ! After 15h of plane, we have finally met the 9 cambodians that will live this adventure of one month with us !! CHIN Vannak : I am 19 years old. I have juste finished my foundation year of engineering in Institute of Technology of Cambodia. Before studying in my university. I had studied in Banteay Meanchey. It’s second time I participate with French team in the reason of group working, sharing and involving. Bonjour à tous !!! Ce petit mail pour vous annoncer qu'après quelques petites péripéties nous sommes tous bien arrivés vivants et en forme quoique fatigués à Phnom Penh ! Le vol de l'équipe est arrivé avec 2h de retard, donc  à 2h du matin  mais après une courte nuit de 4h au foyer d'enfants du Mékong à Phnom Penh nous sommes prêts à repartir un peu plus au sud ! Â très bientôt, L'equipe Magis Promesse Cambodge  P.S: un petit problème technique a retardé l'utilisation de la mailing liste officielle.  Son utilisation prochaine ne saurait tarder. Vendredi 3 juillet a eu lieu l'apéritif Magis Promesse Cambodge sur le vieux port à Marseille. Nous remercions tout particulièrement Marc et Sabha, amis du MACT, qui nous ont très gentiment obtenu l'emplacement et qui ont été d'une grande aide dans l'organisation. Merci également à Clément et Lucie, tous deux anciens de Provence pour leur efficacité! L'ambiance a été assurée par un groupe de rock composé de Ulysse, un élève de l'école de Provence,  Thomas, Maxime, Maxime et Ronie. Un grand merci à eux! Durant la soirée, deux jeunes cambodgiens de passage nous ont permis de commencer à envisager la rencontre interculturelle en nous apprenant des danses cambodgiennes. Nous remercions également la centaine de participants à la soirée qui sont venus pour les jeunes enfants cambodgiens dont nous nous occuperons cet été.
